Kingdom Notes & Quotes

People do not drift toward Holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.” ~ D.A. Carson

Sin is not harmful because it is forbidden; it is forbidden because it is harmful!” Thank God that Grace doesn’t just “cover my sin”, but by His Spirit indwelling & inhabitation my life – and by a *grace-driven* surrender & yielding to His Life – Grace empowers me to be RID of sin, to His Glory!!!

4 things that we need to have/be to experience “Deeper” in Christ: 1) Humility, 2) Childlike Faith, 3) Determination, & 4) Unashamed. Consider both the woman with the issue of blood, crawling to Christ & Blind Bartimaeus, crying out without regard. (Inspired by Blake & Perri at Everburn 8/10/12)

“The characteristic of a man who has come to God is that you cannot get him to take anyone seriously, but God.” ~ Oswald Chambers

The Gospel of The Kingdom is likened unto this: The front walkway, the front steps & the front door are of first-most importance to entering the domain of another. In fact, it could be said that they are the ONLY WAY to lawfully gain entrance. However, the purpose of them, is not themselves alone, but to ALLOW entry to the domain of another, where the Owner of that domain resides. If we only admire, accept, or otherwise embrace the “entry” alone – never utilizing them as a means of entrance – we render them of no effect! So is it with the Death, Burial & Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Let him who has ears to hear, hear. ~ Grrr

Don’t assume because you are happy about something, that God is too.

Saints of God – please, please, do not mistake your “happiness”, for God’s approval of your choices. And don’t assume because you are happy about something, that God is too.

King David – God’s anointed one – was happy while in bed with Bathsheba, and even for several months thereafter, but this, one of the greatest men of God of all time; a man whom God said: “this is a man after my own heart” – suffered consequences for his “happiness” – the happiness of the bedroom turned to deep weeping, sorrow & death, not just for him, but for his wife, and for generations to come. For though God anointed him, and delivered him, and gave him all of Israel and Judah, and would have given him more if he has but asked – David took what was not his to have, and God said to him “Why have you despised the Word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight?” The Word of the Lord though Nathan the prophet declared that sin NEVER goes unpunished: “therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house [because you have despised the Lord]; and I will raise up evil against you from your own household; I will even take what I have given to you and give it to others, in broad daylight, for all to see. Indeed you did it secretly, but I will do this thing publicly.” It took all these strong words for King David, a man after God’s own heart, to come to true repentance, and still, the Prophet said to David, Though “the Lord has taken away your sin; [and] you shall not die – nevertheless, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme – the child also that is born to you shall surely die.”

Saint, DO NOT believe the lie that just because you “belong to the Lord”, that you can knowingly “engage in” and “embrace” sin, and go unpunished (without discipline or consequences). God disciplines those he loves, for they are His children. Anyone, or anything, that tells you otherwise is a liar! If you are “happy” in your sin – know that God is NOT HAPPY – get out now! Repent – turn – change your mind – for your thoughts are NOT His thoughts, and your ways are NOT His ways – Repent, I say, repent. Renounce your own rulership over your life, and surrender to His rule over you – that is the very reason for which you have been born-again! Know though, that even then, there will be consequences for your sin, but why suffer unnecessarily discipline, pain & sorrow, when you can repent now, and experience His Life, His Freedom and His blessings in fullness?

(For those who would argue or dismiss this entire blog entry as incorrect because Christ bore the punishment for our sins, that is true – nevertheless – once in Christ, we have a call to Spirit-empowered holiness. The line between “discipline”, “consequences” and “punishment” is a fine line. Do not let my use of the word “punishment” cause you to throw the baby out with the bathwater. If you prefer, you may reread my statement above as: “Sin NEVER goes without consequences or discipline”, and the purpose and meaning of this entry will remain unchanged: If a born-again saint knowingly remains engaged in and embracing sin, there will be consequences and discipline from the hand of a holy and loving Heavenly Father in the life of His child. Therefore, REPENT the Kingdom (rule and reign) of God is at hand!)
